Grammarian

GR

As Grammarian, you briefly describe your role when asked by the Toastmaster.

During the meeting, you observe usage of English by everyone who speaks. This role is as much about practicing your own listening skills as it is about providing helpful feedback. You also practice how to express criticism in a constructive manner.

Toward the end of the meeting, when asked by the General Evaluator, you speak again to provide a report of your observations.

Tips:

  • Make note of memorable effective phrases — "gems"

  • Optional to note poor usage that we should avoid — "germs"
