AH

As Ah Counter, you describe your role in brief when asked by the Toastmaster at the beginning of the meeting. You can mention what types of sounds, repeats, and filler words are considered not necessary in speaking.

During the meeting, you do your best to tally the number of occurrences of such sounds and words from each person that speaks. This role helps you practice listening as well as verbal reporting of your observations.

Toward the end of the meeting, when asked by the General Evaluator, you provide a brief report, which can be a simple readout of "scores" for each speaker.

Tip: Don't count over 10 if the occurrences seem habitual, but be sure to highlight it in your report
