Just like that, we're now overflowing the medium (size) study room at the library. It's a standard conference room in setup with two large tables that together can seat 12 comfortably. But for two meetings in a row, we've had to bring in extra chairs. These extra chairs, of course, don't have any table surface to write on. They're just armless chairs from the lobby.
And so, we have a happy problem — we're growing too fast.
This is an unexpected challenge. It's indeed a problem, not only because of limited room size, but also because the basic meeting roles are not familiar to the many new members and guests. We're still running our relatively complex meeting with too few members overloaded with too many roles and tasks. We're scrambling.
We will have to quickly ramp up the onboarding process to get more attendees involved. New and newish members will need to quickly grasp the meeting roles. No longer do we have the luxury of letting everyone gradually and tentatively try each role whenever they're ready.
Instead, it's ready or not, you must dive in. Everyone needs to participate or else the imbalance.
The added challenge in our hybrid meeting (in-person and Zoom) is the equipment setup. It's to provide audio and video feed to those online. We need someone focused on monitoring the equipment. And this is after a full 10 minutes of physical connections with cables and WiFi connectivity, then testing everything before the meeting starts. After the meeting ends, there's then the disconnection and quick stow away before the library closes. Yet cannot forget to remain courteous to fellow club members and especially guests. All in all, it's tough to do double and triple tasks combined with the regular meeting roles.
But it's still a happy problem, and I think we're up to the challenge! It takes teamwork. We'll have to all dive in for very quick team-building. This is our milestone. Many hands make light work. We need many more hands. Let's pool our resources, skills, and efforts. We can do it!
